Dretti, Owner Rheba S., 3.5 y/o filly. Large, deep slices from wire fencing

Dretti: Day 1

Dretti: Day 444

Case Study

Lightning struck a transformer nearby. Dretti, a 3.5-year-old filly panicked, driving herself through wire fencing at terrible cost to her body.

We made two bandages. Both could be washed and dried over and over.

Every photo of progress was exciting to see, but this photo taken the day after the bandage was put on Dretti was the best of all. The tissue was still alive and filled with blood. We knew it would be possible for the tissue to heal.

Beyond the obvious challenge of "How to make them" the design had to be central to holding in place what sutures could not.

The scars appear as if they were closed with sutures. They were not. The bandages held the tissues together.

"Dretti was born with the kindest heart. We love each other. If she will not give up, I will not give up on her"
Rheba S. Owner R.N.

This was a journey for Dretti, Rheba and us. There was a hurricane in the middle of it, yet the bandages were still protecting her. It was not simple. It was a commitment. We all learned a lot.

To this day we are still amazed at how Dretti healed and know many prayers were heard. Amen.

"Every day she was healing despite the challenges. The day she bore weight on her leg and began to walk was the day I knew how much she wanted to be herself again."
Rheba S. Owner R.N.

We knew Rheba was going to need help and sent her one of our Silver Serenity Lap Blankets. Read her review here.
The Silver Serenity EQ Blanket that Dretti wore noticeably relieved her discomfort. It should have been painful when she began to rehab herself (after Day 43), yet she chose her own pace, aware of her limits. One year and three months from the date of her injury, Dretti was nearly 95% full body motion. The silver blanket was a game changer"
